Manage Settings

As administrator of your blog site, you can enter or update your company’s contact information. You can also specify the look and feel of BlogSuite for the users, and enable certain features for posting entries. All the input fields listed below is presented on the settings page.

Please Note: You must be an administrator to complete these functions.

1. Click on the link Settings from the Administration box.

2. Initially you will see input fields for general information. Click on another bar to display that set of input fields and hide the "general information" input fields.

3. Enter values in the various input fields. See below for descriptions of the input fields.

Settings - SAVE and CANCEL buttons are displayed at the bottom of the Site Settings page.


4. Click on the SAVE button to save the changes you just made for the site settings.

5. Click on the CANCEL button to ignore all changes made and revert to the settings that were used before you modified the values.

General Information

Enter or update your company's information.

Settings - General information


1. Company Name: Enter your company's name.

2. Address 1, Address 2, City, State, Postal Code, Country: Enter your company's postal address.

3. Phone Number, Fax Number: Enter your company's contact numbers.

4. Email Address: Specify an email address for your company.

5. Subdomain Name: Enter a name for this subdomain. If this setting is for the host domain, enter the domain name here. NOTE: The host domain is also given a name, URL, and theme.

6. Subdomain URL: Enter the web site address for this subdomain. If this setting is for the host domain, enter the domain's URL here. To verify the sub domain name you entered is not yet being used on the Internet, click on the button Check Availability.

Main Blog Settings

Specify sub domain information as well as default metadata that gets used with the web page HTML on blog site. NOTE: If you are specifying settings for the host domain, enter the host domain's name and URL in the first 2 input fields.

Subdomain information


1. Home URL: If you activate the Home link in the main menu, you can customize where the link goes in here. For example, this could go directly to your main website if you have one.

2. Default Title: Enter text for a title on most pages of the blog site, except for the blog post pages which will display the post title.

3. Default Meta Description: Enter text that will be placed in the description meta tag of the HTML for the blog site web pages. This text is used for internet search engine optimization, or SEO.

4. Default Meta Keywords: Enter text that will be placed in the keywords meta tag of the HTML for the blog site web pages. This text is also used for SEO.

5. Sitemap Link: This non-editable field displays the link for your site map file. Click on the "View" link to show the source code for your site map file.

POSTS/COMMENTS MODERATION

1. Allow anonymous comments: Check this box to allow bloggers to add comments to a blog without specifying their email address.

2. Moderate comments: Check this box to have the author of a blog review and approve or delete each comment that is posted regarding that blog.

3. Moderate blogs: Check this box to have the administrator approve each posted entry made to the blog site.

USERS

4. Show register link: Check this box if you would like the "Register" link to be displayed on the blog site's web pages. This link allows Internet users that do not have a user account with your blog site to register for an account.

5. Default new users to allow blogging: Check this box to have the “Enable Blogging” box automaticallychecked adding new bloggers to your blog site.

POSTS

6. Show partial blog with "Read More" link: Check this box to display a portion of text from the blog followed by a “Read More” link that will display the blog in its entirety.

7. Show number of posts per page – Enter the number of blogs that can be viewed per page.

Look and Feel

Set the look and feel of the blog site by selecting a theme, banner, and logo.

You can easily replace the look of your domain or sub domain’s blog site with one that you find more suitable by selecting a theme. You can also specify a banner image and logo image. It is important to note that image sizes for the banner and logo are important so that they fit into the chosen theme nicely. The following is a list of suggested image sizes for each theme. In some cases, the theme may allow additional space for even larger images:

1. Subdomain Theme: Select a theme for this subdomain blog site. The theme sets the look and feel of the site. Note that if you select a theme, you should also choose a banner image and home/logo image that match that theme.

2. Website Favicon: You can specify a favorite icon that you would like associated with your blog site so that it appears in a web browser’s address bar or bookmarks, for example, next to your blog site’s page name. Enter the file name of the icon in the text input field, or click on the Browse button to bring up a file selection window from which you can select a file.

3. Default Banner Text: Enter text for the banner caption, if desired. If this field is left blank, no caption will be displayed with your banner.

4. Default Banner Image: If desired, enter the file name of a banner you would like to use for te blog site. The recommended dimensions of the banner are 750x200 pixels.

5. Default Home/Logo Image: If desired, enter a logo to use on the top left corner of the blog site pages. The recommended dimensions of the logo are 200x60 pixels.
